Embracing the Messy Middle

Writing my second book has led me into the messy, tangled middle where stories truly come to life. The initial excitement has worn off, and the path forward feels murky.

Kelsey's journey is unfolding in unexpected ways—she's making choices I didn't plan for, and that's both frustrating and wonderful.
I've realized that embracing this uncertainty is essential. Instead of fighting the messiness, I'm leaning into it.

Kelsey's struggles mirror real life—navigating motherhood, career challenges, and personal desires that don't fit neatly into a box.

So, how do I navigate this phase?

WHAT'S MAYA BEEN UP TO?

A Kindle Milestone

Readers have devoured over 10,000 pages of Painting Celia on Kindle Unlimited! This warms my heart and keeps me writing.

Wise Enough Women Book Group

Not only am I speaking to this lovely book group this week, they are serving Celia's squash curry. AMAZING!

NIWA Indie Book Fair

I had a fantastic time at the NIWA Indie Book Fair! What a joy to meet so many passionate readers and fellow authors.

My First 2-Star Review

Another author first! Not everyone will love every book, and that's okay. Painting Celia has no 1-star reviews yet, and that's a win!

DORY'S CORNER

Fall is here and the rain hasn't deterred Dory from living his best life out on the river deck.

The weather has turned chilly enough that we won't leave the door open for him, and we're not putting in a cat door either. Poor Dory has to ask to be let in or out.

He does this by sitting directly in front of the door and resting the top of his head on it. Then he waits until he is noticed.

Luckily for the little prince, we're always watching. He gets personal door service a few times an hour!

WILL YOU HELP ME?

If you have read (or listened!) to Painting Celia and not yet left a review, would you please write a quick one for me? Reviews are what lead other readers to the book. The most valuable places to leave one are Amazon and Goodreads.

I would be so grateful, my friends!
