My Story on KBOO Radio, March 14
Let's celebrate our personal epics!
On Friday, March 14, 7pm, I'll be the guest on Once Upon a Time with Consuelo Miranda on KBOO 90.7 FM in Portland, Oregon. The hour-long show is about the power of autobiography and how our personal stories, with all their struggles and triumphs, become a tool for knowing ourselves and connecting as a community.
I'll share how my transformative three-year journey to finish Painting Celia taught me that art and self-expression are essential for healing and self-discovery.
Listeners can call in to ask questions and share their own stories. Just reply to this email for the phone number and details!

How Childhood Memories Ignite My Writing
I won a spelling bee at age eight. The glow of being “better than everyone” stuck with me. I got a little trophy and a big head.
The next week, I learned that success has consequences when I misspelled parquet and the teacher singled me out for it. I was crushed. What good was winning if I could just fail the next time?
Well, it’s good for character, and it’s also good for the characters I write.

Spring is here, and Dory has started wanting to be out on our deck more often. That cat loves laying in the sun all day!
Sunning is not just an activity for cats, though. Our deck is a popular spot for local birds, since it's quiet and sheltered but still get full sun and a view of the fish swimming by. One of our local Great Blue Herons has claimed our deck as its fishing lookout, and spends hours each day just standing there, watching for fish and feeling the sun.
Dory's not afraid of the birds, but this heron is nearly as tall as me when it stretches it neck up! Sometimes Dory is content to just watch from inside, settling for the sunbeams coming through the windows.

By Liz Fields and Jess Lynne
If you were left at the altar would you still go on your honeymoon?
Winston Roberts—the man I thought was my forever—stood beside me at the altar, leaned in, and whispered four words that shattered my world, “I can’t do this.”
So what did I do? I boarded a plane—alone—destined for the other side of the world, determined to enjoy the once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon he’d planned.

WILL YOU HELP ME?
If you have read (or listened!) to Painting Celia and not yet left a review, would you please write a quick one for me? Reviews are what lead other readers to the book. The most valuable places to leave one are Amazon and Goodreads.
