KBOO FM Interview Alongside Lynn A. Haller

I didn't expect to be back on the radio so soon, but got a last-minute invite to get back into the booth! On Friday, June 14, I was back on the air with KBOO’s Once Upon a Time.
This time I joined my friend Lynn, a trauma-informed therapist and educator who’s working on something remarkable: a workbook that uses Painting Celia as a case study. Host Consuelo asked us to talk about ways Celia’s childhood trauma can educate therapists and counselors, and boy, did we!

She Blooms

Dory does not care for parties. During a recent gathering on our deck, he slept under a chair through most of it, ignoring the chatter and music.
Water was tracked across the deck after paddleboarding, and when Dory stepped in a puddle, he jumped and glared at us. We offered him a grilled shrimp in apology. He sniffed it, turned away in disdain, then circled back and ate it when he thought no one was watching.
Near the end, we gave him a tiny party hat to wear. I think you can see from his expression what he thought about that. Dory will tolerate people being in his house, but the hat was an indignity too far. Our old man is not a party animal.
