Trevor is the quiet yet charming dad of the crew. A man of few words, his dry quips usually cut to the heart of the matter. He is kind and steady, has high standards, and believes his friends are capable of great things. He’s a firm believer in the importance of creative work and is an advocate for young artists, especially the early financial support they need so they can learn their craft.
“You get sucked into making a living, not doing the creative work you need to be doing. Traveling if you can, seeing the work of other people, improving your technique, finding your creative voice.”
Trevor is willing to put in the hard work for his career and encourages others to do the same. He is a commercial fashion photographer who shoots his own art in his down time. Despite his quiet demeanor, Trevor can turn on the charm when he needs to and has a good relationship with a wide swath of store owners and gallery curators across Los Angeles.
Born to Mormon parents in Utah, Trevor moved to California after an estrangement. He feels a close connection to Celia because they both have experienced the pain of unsupportive parents. Once she’s ready to open up, he listens and offers support and encouragement. Celia learns from him that it’s possible to move forward and make a life on her own.
Trevor happily introduces León to some of his gallery contacts, helping him get into an early exhibition. Kelsey often poses for Trevor’s personal art shoots, and he has mentored her in photography. She’s more interested in taking photos to promote the store she works in, but Trevor is perfectly happy helping her with what he knows. As for Andrew, Trevor encourages him to challenge himself and do more than just teach ceramics.
As a teen in Utah, Trevor fell in love with Jacob, a “beautiful boy with golden curls.” The two of them had a secret relationship until they were caught and Jacob denied everything, saying he wasn’t gay and had only sinned because Trevor made himself available. The wrath of the church came down on Trevor, not Jacob. Trevor was forced to spend a few months living with a church elder who tried to “cure” him. Trevor did his best, but when he turned 18, his father told him their duty was over and he needed to leave. Trevor moved to Los Angeles and somehow made his own way.
Andrew is surprised to find in Trevor someone who thinks he has growth left in him. Trevor, on the other had, finds Andrew’s open acceptance of all love to be healing. The two quietly begin a relationship that is far less secret than they believe, as their friends watch with amusement.
Trevor Hansen is a quiet but impactful man who embodies kindness, perseverance, and initiative.
